Tamara Perkinshas had a deep interest in cultural and religious studies, with an affinity for Eastern philosophy and practice, since she was a child. Exposed to Yoga and Tibetan Buddhism by her step-father, she has made Yoga, meditation, and Buddhist principals an integral part of her life.

Niroga is bringing yoga to those that need it most – at-risk youth who are homeless, abused, exploited, delinquent, or incarcerated, giving them the life skills needed to realize the power and possibilities within themselves. We also bring yoga to seniors, cancer patients, and people in rehab and recovery. A plethora of strong partnerships have been developed, allowing us to serve hundreds of people a week. We also recently started a year-long program at Alameda County Juvenile Hall, bringing Yoga, Breathwork, and Meditation daily to incarcerated youth in their Mental Health Unit. We have developed psychometric tools to measure changes in general health, stress (and anxiety and depression) and self-awareness (and self-control and self-esteem) with regular practice.
