This training will provide information and instruction in TLS for any and all stakeholders in the field of education from school teachers, administrators and parents to mental health professionals. No prior yoga experience necessary

TLS is a powerful application of yoga and mindfulness principles and methods to the teaching profession. For those who qualify, this professional development training addresses:

  • CSTP Standard: Developing as a Professional Educator
  • CSTP Standard: Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Learning
  • CEUs available from Cal State East Bay.

Applications

  • Personal stress management and increased personal resiliency
  • Classroom and school-wide climate enhancement
  • Positive behavioral management and support
  • Interventions for situations and students with special needs
  • Social competence, conflict resolution and violence prevention
  • Learning strategies for increased focus and attention (yes, including test-taking)

Outcomes

  • Learn core principles and practices for application in your classroom
  • Identify key elements to include in lesson design and 'teachable moments'
  • Add powerful somatic tools to your teacher effectiveness repertoire

The day will be spent engaged in developing competence in real-life hands-on skills applicable to the classroom environment, under the guidance of two experienced and proficient teachers. Join a group of like-minded colleagues as we modify TLS best practices to meet your individual and specific needs. A multi-modality intervention validated by developmental neuroscience and somatic psychology, TLS includes yoga, breathing techniques and meditation. Current research data from Niroga TLS work in numerous schools will accompany the workshop.
