As a ten-year old youth, kwe left his home country of Cameroon to study at the renowned Ecole Saint-Martin de France, a boarding school for boys, where he wrote his first song in French after finishing high school in 1996.

A teacher and music organizer with a Masters in Humanities from the University of Chicago, kwe has travelled extensively across the continental United States to conduct readings, attend conferences, teach or perform.

Since coming to the US, kwe has recorded a catalog of over 100 works of music and spoken word poetry. Afro Roots Hop is a fusion of conscious hip hop and roots reggae chanting over electro-acoustic Afro-Rock vibes. For this special benefit concert held at Niroga Yoga, kwe will be reading from his first collection of poems – Dirges of Becoming (Scroll One).

Musicians who will be accompanying kwe include Gabriel Bata on percussion, Christopher Brown on guitar and Finbar Lamontagne on bass.
