Certified Yoga Therapy Specialist Training Program (Level 3)Niroga Institute has extended its highly regarded, long-standing, year-long certificated Yoga Teacher Training into a three-year comprehensive Yoga Therapy Training program. For those interested in extending their knowledge or yoga teaching to more advanced levels, we offer:
The training will be led by Bidyut Bose, PhD, Master Yoga Therapist in the Raja Yoga tradition and Executive Director of Niroga Institute. Bidyut has been researching the application of yoga therapy for common chronic conditions and special populations, and training senior yoga teachers in yoga therapy for many years. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Along with Bidyut, there will be several accomplished faculty members with a range of relevant expertise and over a hundred years of experience practicing Yoga Therapy. In Niroga’s Yoga Therapy Specialist (Level 3) training students will develop knowledge and skills for application of yoga therapeutics in prevention and intervention working confidently with a wide range of special populations, and will be equipped to work with various specialists including physicians, mental health professionals, chiropractors and physical and occupational therapists. Niroga’s Yoga Therapy Specialist training offers yoga teachers special training for working with populations beyond the typical yoga studio. The Level 3 training will focus on special populations such as seniors, cancer survivors, at-risk youth, prenatal and postpartum, as well as people with special needs. For those interested in furthering their studies, Level 3 is complemented by Niroga’s Yoga Therapy Training (Level 2), which focuses on yoga therapy for common chronic conditions addressing the different physiological systems of the human body. Students may take Level 2 and Level 3 simultaneously. To qualify for our Yoga Therapy Specialist Training (Level 3), you must be a Certified Yoga Teacher (Level 1) or a health care professional with an established yoga practice of at least 1 year. Classes will be held the third weekend of every month starting in February (Sat and Sun, 12-6pm) at the Niroga Center near Downtown Berkeley, through the end of the year. Each weekend will consist of didactic and experiential components, and include topical monthly workshops that will be open to the public. These open workshops will provide the opportunity for guided hands-on clinics, with students assessing clients and assisting faculty. They will be held during class time on Sundays from 2-5pm, covering the topics addressed in class, and providing a unique opportunity to work with the public and gain valuable practical experience for future independent practice.
