Bhavana Mody, Program Manager
Bhavana has been an educator in the greater Bay Area since 2001, working with youth in the environmental/outdoor education and youth development fields, and going on to earn her teaching credential and MA in Multi-cultural Education at University of California, Santa Cruz in 2007. She has been a first-grade teacher, a P.E. teacher, an adult education teacher and an elementary science teacher.
During this time, Bhavana pursued yoga, meditation, and Indian dance, initially to get in touch with her South Asian heritage, for exercise and for community. She has been teaching yoga and Bollywood dance since 2005. As a classroom teacher, Bhavana also recognized the benefits movement and meditation could bring to schools and beyond. This led her to enroll in Niroga's 800-hour Yoga Therapy certificate program, where she learned the science of integrating movement, breath and centering for optimal physical and mental health.
As a program manager, Bhavana is thrilled to be able to bridge her experience in the education field and as a yoga therapist to support social-emotional learning in schools through Dynamic Mindfulness.
