Fatima Ahmed, Program Manager
After immigrating from Dhaka to The Bronx as a middle school student, Fatima’s curiosity was heightened about different cultures, races, religions, ethnicities, gender roles, and... baseball! The sudden and traumatic transition gave her many opportunities to pursue self-healing. Fatima's social-emotional struggles in college motivated her to be a college counselor for Harlem Children's Zone in 2005. There she took her first yoga class and embraced yoga as an instrument for individual and community healing. Since moving to San Francisco in 2010, she completed her 200RYT at Niroga and 300RYT at Yoga Tree. Working with Niroga as a Program Manager Fatima has found a powerful place to continue her vision of applying yoga to social justice. She practices dynamic breathing techniques and movements throughout the day and before biking, running or surfing.
As the Program Manager for Niroga in San Francisco, she is thankful to the teachers and principals from SF public schools for including Dynamic Mind program. Fatima also thanks SF Public Library at Visitacion Valley for letting her teach her first yoga class in 2013, and the SF Recreation & Parks Department for giving her incredible opportunities to teach yoga all over SF.
