Niroga Benefit raises money for Haiti Relief
At the Benefit for Haiti Relief held March 28, 2010 at the Niroga Center, yoga students and other attendees donated $400, which was given to Builders without Borders for rebuilding in Haiti and Haiti Emergency Relief to purchase medications to go to mobile clinics in the encampments used by Haitian and American clinicians in Port Au Prince.
The afternoon started with Anthony Williams' healing yoga class in which he provided therapies addressing specific chronic conditions. Relaxed and refreshed, the students joined others for a slide show by Berkeley architect Martin Hammer, recently back from a two-week reconnaissance in Haiti. His narrated slide show (shown here) provided an insightful picture of the Port-au-Prince area as it struggles to recover from January's devastating earthquake.
Thanks to Martin Hammer, Miriam Shipp, and Anthony Williams for their efforts in putting this benefit together and to all who donated.
