Summer Learning Institute - a resounding success!
Last month, our 3-day Summer Learning Institute kicked off with a 2-day Dynamic Mindfulness (DMind) training that was completely sold out. Over 70 educators, mental health professionals and others packed the training. Their surveys told us:
- 98% of the participants felt the information was relevant
- 100% felt the content was applicable to their life and work
- 100% said that they had increased their knowledge and skills both personally and professionally.
Their remarks about the DMind training included:
“It was incredibly well planned and well done. I was totally engaged the whole time, with an excellent mix of activities. I was amazed at the simplicity and power of Dynamic Mindfulness. I am so impressed!”
“I was touched by the authenticity of each presenter, and the obvious love-based intelligence upon which Niroga’s program has been developed. The curriculum is terrific, and the quality of sincerity each member of the staff conveys, is hugely important to the mission of growing conscious connections. I’m so blessed to have discovered such an inspired institution in the mindfulness education world!”
On the third day, over 150 people attended our Stress Resilience conference. Dan Siegel, acclaimed author and renowned neuropsychiatrist, provided the opening keynote, and he reminded us that we are wired for connection and community. He also shared his insights on adolescent brain development and why teenagers act the way they do. There were several workshops on solutions for stress resilience and a compelling panel discussion on the disproportionately high stress and trauma on most youth of color, and what they need to succeed. Our Education Excellence and Equity award, selected by our national awards committee, was presented to Karling Aguilera-Fort, Assistant Superintendent of San Francisco Unified School District, the inaugural awardee. Delaine Eastin, former State Superintendent of California Public Instruction, gave the closing keynote - a passionate plea for Dynamic Mindfulness, and its profound policy implications for education transformation.
